Honolulu, Hawaii

From Diamond Head to downtown, your Honolulu stories matter

Honolulu is the capital of Hawaii, a city where office towers, beaches and old landmarks sit side by side. You have your own Honolulu, made of places and people only you can describe.

Try it free for 7 days. Only you can see your record. Never public or searchable.

When you see Diamond Head on the skyline, what does that familiar shape bring back for you?

Anyone can find Honolulu on a map, but only you can say what the plate lunch spot, the beach where you learned to swim and the shortcut through traffic meant to you. Speak your answers with your device's dictation or type them, and they are kept exactly as you gave them. Archive Membership adds a guide that lets your chosen people search them later, quoting you directly and never speaking as you.

Only you can see your answers while you live.

What you can count on

  • Only your own words

Nothing is written for you. Every word in your record is yours, as you gave it.

  • Text, never your voice or face

There is no recording and no likeness, so no one can make you seem to say anything.

  • Time before anyone reads

No one receives your record until at least 6 months have passed after you are gone.

  • Your terms, kept

You decide who receives it, and you can change your mind whenever you like.

How it works

A few minutes at a time, whenever it suits you.

  1. One question a day

A friendly question about your life, your views or the people in it. Skip any you like.

  2. Your words grow with you

Come back to an answer, add to it, or change it. Each one keeps its date.

  3. You choose who receives it

Name the family and/or friends who will one day receive your whole record.

Honolulu, Hawaii

Your Honolulu, in your own words

A crater on the skyline

Diamond Head rises near the eastern edge of Waikīkī's coastline. It formed in a single explosive eruption long ago, when settled ash cemented into a rock called tuff. Today a steep trail climbs to the summit, finishing with a flight of stairs and a wide view of the shore. You may have hiked it at sunrise, or you may simply know it as the shape that tells you that you are home. Landmarks like this quietly hold our private moments: a first date, a hard week, a proud day.

A royal palace among the offices

In downtown Honolulu, ʻIolani Palace was completed in 1882, and King Kalākaua and later Queen Liliʻuokalani lived and ruled there. After the monarchy was overthrown it served for decades as the seat of government, and it was restored in the 1970s. History like that sits right beside bus stops, food trucks and busy sidewalks. You may pass it on perfectly ordinary days. What you notice about this city, and what you think it all means, is a view of Honolulu that only you can give.

The Honolulu only you know

Every city has an official story, and then it has yours. Yours might include the plate lunch spot you swear by, the shortcut you take in traffic, the beach where you learned to swim or the street where you grew up. Details like these feel small, yet they are what bring a place to life. The generations after you will be able to find Honolulu on any map. Your words can show them how it felt to live here, in this time, as you.
