Private and never searchable. While you are living, only you, and anyone you choose to help you, can see your record. The people you name cannot.

Who is setting up this record?
Step 1Choose your membership

Either membership can start with a 7-day free trial, or you can start right away. You can move from Record Membership to Archive Membership at any time.

Record Membership

$119 per year

Answer a question a day, write about anything, and build your family tree. Private to you, and it grows with you over the years. One day, the people you choose receive your whole record.

  • Included: Answer questions: a new question every day, and more whenever you like
  • Included: Write about anything, in your own words
  • Included: Build your family tree
  • Included: The people who receive your record: 2 included with Record Membership, 5 with Archive Membership, more for a one-time fee each, up to 10 in all
  • Included: After you pass, each of them receives a copy of your whole record, by email, through a protected download link
  • Not included: A yearly review of your wishes and the people you named
  • Not included: A guide your family and/or designees can ask about your life. It quotes only your own words, with their dates, and never speaks as you
  • Not included: Pay ahead, up to 10 years at a time and 12 years in all, with 10 years for less. Whatever paid time is left after your passing is the guide's, free for the people you named
  • Not included: The option of a Historical Deposit with a partner library or archive, for a one-time fee

Archive Membership

$239 per year

Everything in Record Membership, plus a guide your family and/or designees can one day ask about your life. It answers only with your own words, quoted and dated. Review your choices each year and, if you like, have a partner library or archive keep a copy for future generations.

Step 2About you

We send a code to confirm it.

We text a code to confirm it. Your phone is never used to sign in.

Your home address

In case we need to reach you by mail. Its state also decides which partner libraries can receive a Historical Deposit, if you choose one. It is kept private and encrypted.

Date of birth

We ask for the full date because some choices depend on age.

At least 12 characters. A few unrelated words make a good one, such as "lilac porch kettle river". You can add an authenticator app or a passkey later, in Settings.

Optional. This is separate from the emails about your account and record, which you always receive. You can stop it at any time in Settings.
