Accessibility
Many people who use ToldForward are older, or use assistive technology. Everyone should be able to record their life and read what was left to them.
Our standard
We build every screen to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What the site supports
- Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus.
- Headings, labels and messages are written for screen readers, and results such as "Saved" are announced.
- Text can be enlarged to 200 percent, and every page works at phone width.
- Light and dark themes, or matching your device, chosen from the top of every page. Text and controls meet the contrast the standard asks for in both.
- No need to type: you can speak your answers with your phone's or computer's own dictation.
- Plain language, with help explained in blue boxes so it never looks like your own content.
- No time limits on writing or answering. Sign-in codes are the exception: they work for 15 minutes, and you can ask for a new one at any time.
- Available in twelve languages, including Arabic shown right to left. English is the original; the other languages were translated with the help of AI and are being reviewed by professionals.
What is not finished yet
- Languages other than English were translated with the help of AI and may contain mistakes until their professional review is done. The English version is the original, and legal documents are in English only.
- A few forms (contact, the wait list, and sign-in after several wrong passwords) use an automatic check that tells people from bots. It usually runs unseen; if it ever stops you, write to us and we will help you another way.
If something does not work for you
Tell us what you were trying to do and what got in the way. We will help you finish it another way, and fix the problem.
