Red, green or Christmas: tell it the way you order it

New Mexico has its own way of asking questions, and its own way of answering them. Your answers, in your voice, are worth keeping for the people who come after you.

Try it free for 7 days. Only you can see your record. Never public or searchable.

Red, green or Christmas: how do you order your chile, and who taught you to like it that way?

New Mexico even has an official state question, so it seems only fair that you get one too, every day. ToldForward asks something friendly, and you answer however feels natural, wry about the weather or serious about the chile. Private while you live, your record keeps your meaning in your words, not in someone else's summary.

Only you can see your answers while you live.

Kept the way you would want

  • In your own voice, on the page

Your phrasing, your humour, your way of putting things, kept word for word.

  • Dated as you go

Every answer carries its date, so the way your thinking changes is part of the story.

  • Handed on with care

The people you choose receive it after at least 6 months, never sooner.

  • Text only, on purpose

No recordings and no images of you are ever made or kept.

From first answer to the people you love

It takes a few minutes a day, at any age.

  1. Begin with one answer

You do not need a plan. Start with today's question and see where it leads.

  2. Watch it become a record

Over months and years, your answers become a picture of how you think.

  3. Leave it in good hands

With Archive Membership, the people you name can also ask a guide about your words.

New Mexico

Your New Mexico, in your own words

A state that even has an official question

Here, "Red or green?" is more than a waiter's question. It is the official state question, and the official answer, "Christmas," means you want both. Small things like that say a lot about a place. Maybe you have a favorite plate of enchiladas, a strong opinion about which chile is better, or a kitchen that smells of roasting chile. Those details feel ordinary to you. To someone reading years from now, they are a window into how you lived and what made a day feel like home.

Old roots, living traditions

Santa Fe was founded in 1610 and is the oldest capital city in the country. At Taos Pueblo, people have made their home for about a thousand years in adobe buildings stacked several stories high, and each year the walls still get a fresh coat of adobe plaster. You may carry your own piece of a long story like that: a language spoken at home, a feast day, a recipe handed across a table. Writing down what those things mean to you keeps them in your words, not someone else's summary.

The land that shaped you

Some people grow up near the bright white gypsum dunes of White Sands. Others know high desert, mesas, cottonwoods along the river or a long drive under a huge sky. The land here leaves a mark on how people think: patient, open, a little wry about the weather. When you describe a place you love, you also describe yourself. Those pictures are what the people you choose will want most, because no map or photo can tell them how it felt to you.

The guide

It quotes you. It never pretends to be you.

With Archive Membership, the people you name can ask a guide about your life. It answers only with your own words, quoted and dated, and says plainly when your record holds no answer.

  • Your words, exactly

Quotes come straight from your record, never rewritten by AI.

  • Clearly an AI

The guide always says it is an AI, and speaks about you, not as you.

  • Honest when unsure

When nothing you wrote answers a question, it says so.

How we look after your information
  • Your record is private while you live: nothing in it is public or searchable.
  • You choose the people who will one day receive it, and you can change them at any time.
  • If you wish, a copy can one day go to a library or archive through the Historical Deposit.

Start with one question

ToldForward asks one friendly question a day, and you answer in your own words, typed or spoken with your device's own dictation. It stays private while you live, and one day it goes to the people you name.
