How it works
Join in a few minutes and you get your own referral code and link. When someone signs up for Record Membership or Archive Membership with your code, their first year costs 10% less. Codes start working once sign-up opens to everyone.
What you earn
You earn 15% of what they pay for their first year, after their discount and before tax. It is for the first year only: renewals, add-ons, the Historical Deposit and free memberships do not count, and neither does signing up yourself.
When you are paid
Each commission is held for 60 days after the member's payment, then paid to you through Stripe. If the payment is refunded or disputed, the commission is taken back. Stripe keeps your bank details; we never see them. We file your yearly tax form (1099) through Stripe.
Who pays what
The member pays ToldForward, as every member does, with the discount applied. ToldForward pays you through Stripe. You never pay anything to take part, and no member ever pays you directly.
Their privacy comes first
Your portal shows when people signed up, which membership they chose and what you earned. It never shows who they are. What they write stays theirs alone.
Always say you are paid
Whenever you share your code, say plainly that you earn a commission, for example: "I earn a commission if you join with my code." The law asks this of anyone paid to recommend something, and your portal has ready-made words for it.

Who can join?
Anyone 18 or older who lives in the United States. Joining is free, and you read and accept the Affiliate Agreement before you begin.
What does my code give people?
10% off their first year of Record Membership or Archive Membership. It never applies to a renewal, an add-on, the Historical Deposit or years paid ahead.
When does my code start working?
Once sign-up opens to everyone. You can join and get your code now, and it starts giving the discount from that day.
How much do I earn?
15% of what each member pays for their first year, after their discount and before tax. It is once per member, for the first year only.
When am I paid?
Each commission is held for 60 days after the member's payment. If the payment is refunded, even in part, or disputed, the commission is taken back; if it was already paid, it is taken back from your Stripe account.
How am I paid?
Only through Stripe. You set up payouts with Stripe from your portal, and Stripe pays your bank. We never see your bank details.
What about taxes?
Stripe collects your tax details when you set up payouts, and where the law requires it we file your yearly tax form (1099) through Stripe.
Do I have to say I am paid?
Yes, every time, plainly and right next to your recommendation. Your portal has ready-made words you can use.
What should I never do?
Never message people who have not agreed to hear from you, never promise anything ToldForward does not do, never use your own code for yourself, and never bid on our name in search advertising.
Can I cancel, or can my account be paused or ended?
You can cancel at any time in your portal. We may pause or end an account if the rules are not followed; while it is paused your code does not work, nothing new is earned and payouts wait. Once your account is cancelled or ended, your code stops for good, and every commission you already earned is still paid to your Stripe account after its 60-day hold, unless it came from breaking the rules.
Will I see who signed up?
No. You see the date, the membership and what you earned, never who they are.
