For generations to come
Imagine someone reading your words 150 years from now.
A great-great-grandchild, a student or a historian you will never meet could one day learn how people lived and thought in our time, from you. Every person is irreplaceable, and so is the way you see the world today.
Built to outlast us
Your record is kept in open, widely readable formats, and we will publish the method for building the guide so it can be rebuilt as technology changes. If ToldForward ever closes, every record is released early and in full.
A copy for everyone you name
Each person you named receives their own copy of your whole record, to keep for as long as they like, with or without us, and to pass on to the people who come after them.
Your family first. Then, if you choose, history.
With Archive Membership you can add an optional Historical Deposit. After your passing, when your record leaves ToldForward, a copy can go to a partner library or archive for your state, which takes it into its collection under its own policies. We are confirming our partners now, and the Historical Deposit is not offered in Florida, Virginia, or Indiana for now.
An honest promise
No one can promise forever. What we can promise is care: open formats, copies in many hands and, if you choose, a home with a library or archive. Together they give your words the best possible chance of reaching people long after us.
Your thoughts today are a gift to the future.
The everyday details of your life, what you hoped for and how you decided, are exactly what future generations will want to understand. It all starts with one question.
