Arkansas

From the Ozarks to the Ouachitas, tell it like only you can.

Arkansas is full of clear rivers and wooded hills, and the life you have made among them belongs to you alone. Your way of seeing this place is worth keeping for the people who come after you.

Try it free for 7 days. Only you can see your record. Never public or searchable.

Who was in the canoe with you on the river trip you still talk about?

On a free-flowing Ozark river, you learn to slow down and notice things. ToldForward works the same unhurried way: one friendly question, one answer, then on with your day. Your words stay yours alone while you live, and one day they reach only the people you have chosen, like a small treasure turned up in the field at Crater of Diamonds.

Only you can see your answers while you live.

Kept the way you would want

  • In your own voice, on the page

Your phrasing, your humour, your way of putting things, kept word for word.

  • Dated as you go

Every answer carries its date, so the way your thinking changes is part of the story.

  • Handed on with care

The people you choose receive it after at least 6 months, never sooner.

  • Text only, on purpose

No recordings and no images of you are ever made or kept.

How it works

A few minutes at a time, whenever it suits you.

  1. One question a day

A friendly question about your life, your views or the people in it. Skip any you like.

  2. Your words grow with you

Come back to an answer, add to it, or change it. Each one keeps its date.

  3. You choose who receives it

Name the family and/or friends who will one day receive your whole record.

Arkansas

Your Arkansas, in your own words

A river left to run

In 1972 the Buffalo River in the Ozarks became the first national river in the United States, and it is still one of the few free-flowing rivers left in the lower 48 states. Have you floated it, or is there another river you keep going back to? Tell about the trips, the near misses and the quiet mornings on the water, and about who was in the canoe with you. Then tell what the river taught you about slowing down.

Water from deep in the hills

At Hot Springs National Park, the water rising from the springs fell as rain on the Ouachita Mountains more than 4,000 years ago. You can still soak in it at two bathhouses on Bathhouse Row. Some traditions last because they comfort us. Which ones comfort you? A Sunday drive, a favorite fishing hole, a recipe that only comes out for company? Tell where it started and who keeps it going now.

Finders keepers

At Crater of Diamonds State Park, visitors search the ground for diamonds, and any rock or mineral they find is theirs to keep. Whether or not a diamond turns up, a day in that field means muddy knees and a good story, which is half the fun. Your life is full of small treasures like that. Write down the ones you have found: a lucky break, a kind word, a friend who turned up right on time.

The guide

It quotes you. It never pretends to be you.

With Archive Membership, the people you name can ask a guide about your life. It answers only with your own words, quoted and dated, and says plainly when your record holds no answer.

  • Your words, exactly

Quotes come straight from your record, never rewritten by AI.

  • Clearly an AI

The guide always says it is an AI, and speaks about you, not as you.

  • Honest when unsure

When nothing you wrote answers a question, it says so.

How we look after your information
  • Your record is private while you live: nothing in it is public or searchable.
  • You choose the people who will one day receive it, and you can change them at any time.
  • If you wish, a copy can one day go to a library or archive through the Historical Deposit.

Start with a single question.

ToldForward asks one friendly question each day, and you answer in your own words, by typing or with your device's own dictation. It stays private while you live, and you decide who receives it.
