Wyoming

Where the plains meet the mountains, your Wyoming story

In Wyoming, the Great Plains meet the Rocky Mountains and the Continental Divide cuts across the state. How you see this country is worth keeping in your own words.

Try it free for 7 days. Only you can see your record. Never public or searchable.

Where in Wyoming do you go when you want to feel the open country around you, and why there?

Some thoughts are worth keeping just as you think them today. ToldForward asks one friendly question a day about your life and views, and you answer in your own words. Your answers stay private while you live, and one day your Wyoming record reaches the people you choose.

Only you can see your answers while you live.

Built with care

  • Your words, unchanged

What you write is stored as you wrote it, with the date, and never rewritten.

  • A gentle pause

Your record waits at least 6 months before anyone you named receives it.

  • Nothing to perform

No camera, no microphone. Type, or speak with your own device's dictation.

  • Yours to change

Edit an answer, remove one, or change who receives your record at any time.

How it works

A few minutes at a time, whenever it suits you.

  1. One question a day

A friendly question about your life, your views or the people in it. Skip any you like.

  2. Your words grow with you

Come back to an answer, add to it, or change it. Each one keeps its date.

  3. You choose who receives it

Name the family and/or friends who will one day receive your whole record.

Wyoming

Your Wyoming, in your own words

High country

Wyoming has the second highest mean elevation in the United States, about 6,700 feet, and a high plateau crossed by ranges like the Tetons, the Wind River and the Big Horns. Which mountains did you grow up looking at, or move here to be near? Tell about the hunting camp, the hay field, the long drives and the weather you learned to read. Your view of this land is yours alone.

First park, first monument

Wyoming is home to Yellowstone, the first national park in the world, and to Devils Tower, the nation's first national monument, which is sacred to Northern Plains Indians. Maybe you have worked a summer in the parks, guided visitors or simply learned the back roads by heart. What do you know about these places that visitors never see? Tell it the way only someone from here can, with the small details a visitor would miss.

Equal Rights

Wyoming's state motto is "Equal Rights," and one of its nicknames is the Equality State. When the University of Wyoming opened in 1887, women were among its students and faculty from the first day. What does fairness mean to you, and where did you learn it? Tell about the people who stood up for what was right in your life. Your values, in your own words, are worth handing on.

Something to come back to

Not a recording. Your own words, ready to read

Your record is text you wrote yourself. The people you choose can read all of it, and with Archive Membership ask a guide to find the parts they are looking for.

  • Find a moment

Ask about a place, a year or a person, and see what you said.

  • See how you changed

Dated answers show how your views grew over time.

  • Always honest

The guide labels every answer and never guesses.
