Ohio

Lake breezes, river bends and a life worth telling

Ohio is home to the Wright brothers' workshop and two famous halls of fame. It is also home to you, and how you think is worth saving.

Try it free for 7 days. Only you can see your record. Never public or searchable.

Which team, band or radio station earned your loyalty, and how did you come by it?

Ohio has always been full of people who fix things, build things and try again, and that stubborn, hopeful streak deserves to be on the record. ToldForward makes building that record a daily habit rather than a big project. Nobody else reads your answers while you live, and you decide who will one day hold them.

Only you can see your answers while you live.

Ohio

Your Ohio, in your own words

Where the canal ran

Long ago the Ohio and Erie Canal connected the Ohio River with Lake Erie, and it ran through the Cuyahoga Valley, now a national park a short drive from Cleveland and Akron. Ohio is full of farm towns, river cities and old canal villages, each with its own pace. Which water did you grow up near? A lake breeze, a river bend or a quiet towpath can hold a lot of a life, and the way you describe it is yours alone.

Tinkerers and dreamers

Before they flew, Wilbur and Orville Wright ran a bicycle shop in Dayton, and that business paid for their experiments in flight. Ohio has always been full of people who fix things, build things and try again. Maybe you are one of them. What did you make, repair or figure out on your own? The stubborn, hopeful way you work through a problem is worth leaving to the people you choose, in your own words.

Hall of fame weekends

The Pro Football Hall of Fame was dedicated in Canton in 1963, and Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opened its doors in 1995. Ohioans tend to have loyalties: a team, a band, a station on the car radio. Which ones are yours, and how did you come by them? Tell it plainly, with the games and songs you still bring up. Those loyalties often say more about a person than a list of dates ever could.

Three easy steps

No writing experience needed, and no deadline.

  1. Answer in your own words

A few sentences is plenty. Type them, or speak them with your device's dictation.

  2. Write about anything else

Beyond the daily question, add any story, view or advice you want to keep.

  3. Name your people

Choose who will receive your record one day. Change your mind whenever you like.

Simple, and safe

  • Private by design

Only you can see your answers. Nothing is shared while you live.

  • You stay the author

No AI writes in your record. It holds what you said, and nothing else.

  • A waiting period

At least 6 months pass after you are gone before anyone receives it.

  • Change anything, anytime

Add, edit or delete what you have written, and update who receives it.

After you

Your people can still find your words

Instead of searching boxes and old messages, the people you choose can ask a question and see what you actually said about it, with the date you said it.

  • Labelled answers

Each answer is marked Recorded, Related or Unknown.

  • No imitation

There is no voice and no avatar, only your text.

  • Their own pace

They begin when they are ready, and can stop at any time.
