Anchorage, Alaska

A mountain park on one side, a coastal trail on the other.

Anchorage keeps a mountain park at its back door and a long coastal trail along its edge. A great deal of everyday life happens in between, and you hold your own piece of it.

Try it free for 7 days. Only you can see your record. Never public or searchable.

Has a moose ever held up your morning ride in Anchorage, and what happened next?

Some of the best Anchorage stories are funny ones: a moose at the kitchen window, reindeer running downtown, a trail that surprised you. Your humor is part of who you are, and ToldForward keeps it in your own words rather than smoothing it out. Answer a question a day, keep it all private while you live, and pick who reads it one day.

Only you can see your answers while you live.

Built with care

  • Your words, unchanged

What you write is stored as you wrote it, with the date, and never rewritten.

  • A gentle pause

Your record waits at least 6 months before anyone you named receives it.

  • Nothing to perform

No camera, no microphone. Type, or speak with your own device's dictation.

  • Yours to change

Edit an answer, remove one, or change who receives your record at any time.

Getting started is easy

Start with a 7-day free trial and see how it feels.

  1. Read today's question

Each day brings one question, from childhood to the views you hold now.

  2. Answer as yourself

Write as you would talk. Your answer is saved with the date, exactly as you gave it.

  3. Decide who it is for

The people you name receive your record, never anyone else.

Anchorage, Alaska

Your Anchorage, in your own words

A mountain park next door

Chugach State Park lies mostly within the Municipality of Anchorage, and its western edge is only about seven miles from downtown. If you are heading up Flattop Mountain, you start from the Glen Alps Trailhead. Have you climbed it on a clear evening, or hauled a visitor up to show off the view? Tell about the trails you know by heart, the weather that surprised you and the people you walked them with.

Moose on the Coastal Trail

The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail runs about 11 miles, and it is within easy reach of Kincaid Park, home to many of the city's resident moose and one of the best places in Anchorage to see them. Do you have a moose story of your own? Maybe one held up your morning ride, or wandered past the kitchen window. The funny, everyday moments of Anchorage life are often the ones the people after you will enjoy most.

Fur Rondy and the long winter

Anchorage launched Fur Rendezvous in 1935, and the festival still brings sled dog races dashing through downtown and the Running of the Reindeer. How do you and your friends get through the dark months? Which events do you never miss? Write them down now, with names and little details, while they are fresh and easy to recall. Even the cold has its own stories, if you are the one to tell them.

Something to come back to

Not a recording. Your own words, ready to read

Your record is text you wrote yourself. The people you choose can read all of it, and with Archive Membership ask a guide to find the parts they are looking for.

  • Find a moment

Ask about a place, a year or a person, and see what you said.

  • See how you changed

Dated answers show how your views grew over time.

  • Always honest

The guide labels every answer and never guesses.

How we look after your information
  • Your record is private while you live: nothing in it is public or searchable.
  • You choose the people who will one day receive it, and you can change them at any time.
  • If you wish, a copy can one day go to a library or archive through the Historical Deposit.

Your first question is waiting.

ToldForward asks one friendly question a day about your life and views, and you can answer in a sentence or a page. With Archive Membership, the people you name can one day find your exact words through a guide that quotes and dates them and never pretends to be you.
