Huntsville, Alabama

The Rocket City has its history. You have yours.

Huntsville is known as the Rocket City for its work on America's space and defense programs. Behind that big story are countless small ones, and yours is among them.

Try it free for 7 days. Only you can see your record. Never public or searchable.

Who first told you that you could do something big, and did you believe them?

In a city that spends its days looking at the sky, it is easy to think your own small story does not count, but it does. Answer a single question each day by typing or with your device's dictation, and choose who will one day receive what you wrote. They will meet the version of you that only you could describe.

Only you can see your answers while you live.

From first answer to the people you love

It takes a few minutes a day, at any age.

  1. Begin with one answer

You do not need a plan. Start with today's question and see where it leads.

  2. Watch it become a record

Over months and years, your answers become a picture of how you think.

  3. Leave it in good hands

With Archive Membership, the people you name can also ask a guide about your words.

Huntsville, Alabama

Your Huntsville, in your own words

A town with its eyes on space

In 1941 the Army bought the farmland that became Redstone Arsenal, and in 1960 NASA opened the Marshall Space Flight Center there. Rockets went up, and so did a city full of engineers, builders, teachers and the friends and neighbors around them. Maybe you worked on something you still cannot fully explain at dinner. Maybe you simply remember how proud the town felt. What was it like to live in a place that looked so hard at the sky?

Space Camp and starry eyes

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center, the official visitor center for NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, is also home to U.S. Space Camp. If you have ever seen a group of young campers walk by, you know the look on their faces. Think about what made you look up when you were young, and who first told you that you could do something big. Stories like that help the people after you dream a little bigger too.

Big Spring to Monte Sano

John Hunt settled here in 1805, and the town he started now counts Big Spring Park and the Huntsville Museum of Art among its treasures, with Monte Sano State Park ready for a day outdoors. Where do you go when you need to think? A bench by the water, a quiet trail, a favorite booth at a diner? Describe it so well that someone who has never been there could find it, and tell them why it matters to you.

Something to come back to

Not a recording. Your own words, ready to read

Your record is text you wrote yourself. The people you choose can read all of it, and with Archive Membership ask a guide to find the parts they are looking for.

  • Find a moment

Ask about a place, a year or a person, and see what you said.

  • See how you changed

Dated answers show how your views grew over time.

  • Always honest

The guide labels every answer and never guesses.

Built with care

  • Your words, unchanged

What you write is stored as you wrote it, with the date, and never rewritten.

  • A gentle pause

Your record waits at least 6 months before anyone you named receives it.

  • Nothing to perform

No camera, no microphone. Type, or speak with your own device's dictation.

  • Yours to change

Edit an answer, remove one, or change who receives your record at any time.
